Aylesbury High School is a grammar school for girls aged 11 to 18 in Buckinghamshire. It was founded in 1959 as the 'sister' school to the local boys' grammar, Aylesbury Grammar School, and still works with the school to provide students with an unparalleled breadth of collaborative opportunities and experiences.
Students at Aylesbury High consistently achieve excellent academic results, placing the school high in regional and national league tables. While the school's academic success is long-established, Aylesbury High is committed to ensuring that girls achieve balance with a wide range of inspiring co-curricular opportunities – with girls' personal development recognised as 'outstanding' by Ofsted.

Girls applying for Year 7 entry to Aylesbury High School will take the 11 plus on the school site on Thursday 14th September 2023. The exam consists of two multiple-choice papers, each lasting around one hour:
Learn about the exam in more detail in our full guide to the Buckinghamshire 11 plus:
Your daughter's test papers in the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test will be marked and weighted. The English and verbal reasoning test will have a weighting of 50% applied, while the non-verbal reasoning and maths sections will be weighted at 25% each. The total of all scores will then be age-standardised to avoid any potential disadvantage for younger children. This overall mark will be your child's Secondary Transfer Test Score (STTS).
The qualifying score in the Secondary Transfer Test is 121. If your child achieves a score of 121 or higher, they will be eligible for entry to Aylesbury High School.
Unlike other grammar schools in the country, children in Buckinghamshire are not ranked in order of their scores. Grammar school entry is entirely dependent on whether or not the child has scored 121, and whether they meet the individual school's admission criteria. We've included the admission criteria for Aylesbury High School below.
There are 186 places available in Year 7 at Aylesbury High School. Girls who achieve the qualifying score and who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which names the school will be allocated places as a priority. If the number of eligible children then exceeds the number of places available, the school will apply oversubscription criteria in order:
1. Looked after and previously looked after children
2. Up to 6 places are allocated to girls who are eligible for free school meals and whose standardised score in the test is between 115 and 120, and who have not been deemed to have qualified according to a selection review
3. Girls who are eligible for free school meals and live in the catchment area
4. Siblings of girls at Aylesbury High School
5. Siblings of boys at Aylesbury Grammar School
6. Siblings of former pupils at Aylesbury High School

8. Girls who have exceptional medical or social needs which can only be met at Aylesbury High School
9. Girls living within the catchment area
